Yao Dang

Yao webOriginally from Beijing, China, graduated with a B.F.A. in Dance with an Honors Award for Excellence in Performance from the Beijing Normal University (2010). She began her professional dance training at the Beijing Dance Academy Secondary School at the age of 11. Currently Ms. Dang is pursuing her M.F.A. in dance at Mills College (California, USA) where she most recently received the Mills Dance Department Outstanding Performance Award (2015). Ms. Dang has performed works by choreographers Wanjiru Kamuyu, Kara Davis and Merce Cunningham (re-staged by Holley Farmer). She has also studied with New York choreographers Donald Byrd, Molissa Fenley, Stefanie Batten Bland, Jacqulyn Buglisi, Tiffany Rea-Fisher, Zvi Gotheiner, Loni Landon, Heidi Latsky, Elisa Monte, Stephen Petronio, Oliver Steele and Manuel Vignoulle.
